Privacy Policy

Information we use

• Account: email address and account ID, used for secure sign-in, access and support.
• Your private app data: saved books, films, places, recipes, notes, completed items and Day Out plans, stored in your signed-in account and sometimes cached on your device for syncing.
• Community: the display name and cropped profile photo you choose to publish, plus requests, replies and recommendations you submit. These are shown to other signed-in Community members. Private Lists and notes are not included in recommendations.
• Support: messages you choose to send and the information needed to respond.
• Membership: subscription status and transaction identifiers used to confirm your access. Whimsy does not store complete payment-card numbers.
• Technical information: information necessary for security, operations and troubleshooting. If website analytics is separately enabled, anonymous event names and selected membership plans may be recorded.

What your profile photo means

Profile photos are optional. When you choose a photo, it is cropped and compressed on your device, then saved with your Community profile when you press Save profile. Your name and picture may appear beside your existing and future Community posts, replies and recommendations. Remove the photo or change your name in Account at any time. Please choose an image you have permission to share.

Why we use your data

We use it to provide Whimsy, sync your private saved items, display the Community contributions you choose to publish, manage paid access, respond to support requests and protect the service. Depending on your location, the legal basis may be providing the service you request, legitimate operational interests, compliance with law or your consent where required.

Other services

Whimsy uses Supabase for account sign-in and app data. Paddle.com handles subscription purchases as merchant of record and processes payment information under its own policies. Links to recipe sites, maps, books, films and other outside services take you to third-party websites with their own privacy practices. You may also use email or Google sign-in where offered.

How long information stays

Account data is retained while your account exists and as needed to operate the service. Community contributions remain associated with their author while published. You can remove individual contributions and request account deletion through Account. Account deletion may not remove transaction records Paddle must retain for legal or accounting reasons, and old offline browser copies may remain on other devices until cleared. Operational backups and legally required records may take longer to expire.

Your choices

You can edit your public profile, remove your photo, delete your Community contributions, cancel renewal and delete your account using the controls in Account. For questions about access, correction or deletion, use Account → Help & support after signing in. Payment-record requests can also be made at Paddle buyer support.

Security, children and updates

We use account-based access controls and keep member data separate, but no online service can guarantee absolute security. Whimsy is intended for adults, not children under 13. We may update this policy when features or service providers change, and will show the updated date here. We do not sell your personal data to advertisers.
